Australian butterfly Papilio ulysses (Linnaeus, 1758) got its name after a Greek hero Ulysses/Odysseus who had such an epic journey home after engaging in the siege of Troy.
The butterfly is also known as Blue Mountain Butterfly, or the Blue Mountain Swallowtail. It lives in tropical rainforest areas and suburban gardens. The upperside of the wings is iridescent metallic blue.
This butterfly is used as an emblem for tourism in Queensland, Australia.
The span of the wings is about 14 cm.
