Troides magellanus

Troides magellanus (Felder, 1862), or the Magellan Birdwing is a butterfly found in the Philippines and on Taiwan’s Orchid Island. It was first described in 1862 and named for the explorer Ferdinand Magellan who was killed in the Philippines in 1521.
This butterfly’s wingspan is about 16-18 cm.
